Navy Knit Skirt Olive & Oak via Winners Aqua Scarf thrifted
Hello again and Happy Monday. I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. The mister and I finally went to see The Hobbit. Unlike pre-movie preparation for The Lord of the Rings, I had not read The Hobbit. Even so, I had a clear understanding of what was happening in the movie. It was a little long for my liking...anything over two hours and I get a little fidgety, but it was a good movie. I can't say I enjoyed it as much as LOTR, but it still holds some of the same magic. As always, I imagine myself living in a Hobbit house with it's round oak doors, and cozy reading nooks...and those first glimpses of Rivendell take my breath away. Yes, there is a lot of terror and fighting, but, save for one moment, I didn't have to put my head in my sleeve. If I were comparing The Hobbit with The Lord of the Rings I would say that LOTR had more adventure and suspense to it. My friends who know me well would remind me that I was more than a little smitten with Aragorn in LOTR, and as such any review would be biased in favour of LOTR. They would be right. {Sigh}
Okay, about this outfit. As you can see, I'm still mad about my cat vest, and have been sporting my fur every chance I get. If you haven't checked out my original post, you can see it here. This weekend I was quite ready to lighten up my colour palette. We may only be half way through winter, but I feel 100% ready for spring. So I paired my aqua tights, scarf, and tank with some neutrals and away I went. Though I felt really comfortable in this outfit, I will definitely rethink wearing it again. When I was reviewing the photographs, I found my proportions disturbingly similar to that of a hobbit's. Yup, minus the big, hairy feet and slightly pointed ears, I was most certainly displaying the height and the girth of our well loved little friends. So, either I need to nix the lace socks with oxfords, or wear different footwear, or maybe a different top, or more sparkle...oh I don't know. Let's say the outfit was bliss for a day and leave it at that.

You're inviting spring in the winter, love this, Sue. You don't look the least bit Hobbit-y either : > Great shoes. Thanks for sharing the look with Visible Monday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Patti. Eventually it will be spring, so I want to be ready.
DeleteAhh, Aragorn, Son of Arathorn, my dearest Strider. I don't understand how Strider is so amazingly stunning but Vigo doesn't really do it for me. Great Oxfords.
ReplyDeleteMaybe it's the black cloak, and the horse thing, LOL.
DeleteNice to meet your too Sue! Thanks for visiting our new mother daughter blog & we both love the arts whether it be a medium or visual so we are your newest followers! I like your style & how you layered this look & that bag!

Hi Denise, Thanks so much for popping on over and following along. My polka dot bag is a current favourite.
DeleteI love the book and I also like the film, but I agree with you. It was a bit too long. Whenever I will have a house, it should have round doors. :-)
ReplyDeleteGood that you do not wait until spring arrives with the cheerful colors. I love the aqua blue with the fur jacket. You look fabulous, I can not see hobbit proportions. But I can tell you that in every pic of me I review I find something I do not like. The camera sometimes fools us.
Yeah, another Hobbit house lover. Yes, I will keep in mind that the camera does distort our shapes sometimes. Thanks for the kind words.
DeleteWow, gorgeous curly red hair. And (spoilty voice) I WANT THAT FAUX FUR JACKET!
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you. And, yes I really lucked out on the faux fur. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteA scarf matching stockings: perfect. Just perfect! Wearing a scarf is not only / always about tying it. It's also about playing with colors and line. You are gorgeous Sue. Now please feel more confident!
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Thank you Anne. I appreciate your very kind words. I WILL be more confident!
DeleteReally loving all the fresh spring-esque tones here! Following you via GFC now :)

I think you are a bit too hard on yourself lovely Lady
ReplyDeleteI looked at your pics and found you lovely - Sock+tights+oxford perfectly alright- Your hair is fine, the lenght of your skirt is fine- So tell me what is wrong?
Mr D saw the Hobbit, not my cup of tea these movies, but they are well made that is for sure -
So don't be too hard on yourself, you are gorgeous!
Ariane xx
Thanks Ariane. I guess when I was sorting through my pics, some were less than flattering. But, hey that can happen.
DeleteSue xo
I love your color combinations, your expert layering and your gorgeous hair.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Judith.
DeleteThat vest looks great - I can see why you'd want to wear it all the time. And I love that handbag!
ReplyDeleteToday really had a touch of spring here, but I know it's just a tease. Oh, well, teasing can be fun!
We get the same thing here...a few early weeks of almost spring, and then more cold and rain.
DeleteYou look so fresh! I love those shoes so much I clicked on each post where you are wearing them. What a great color, or non-color that is.
ReplyDeleteWe had a touch of spring today too. I actually took my coat off outside. Can't wait!
It just felt so great to wear shoes. I love my boots, but there is something about those first few times of leaving the house with shoes on that feels so great.
DeleteI love your photos, your style and your adorable smile.

Love that aqua. And of course, the faux fur that matches your cat! And what does he/she think of it? Aragorn was too cool, but whatshisface, king of the dwarfs, was pretty good to look at too, don't ya think?
ReplyDeleteAre you thinking of Legolas, the elf with the long blonde hair?
DeleteI like the short skirt with the socks, Sue. And that cozy faux fur. What a find! Do the cats like it as much as you do?
ReplyDeleteShirl
I haven't given them a chance to curl up in it, LOL.
Deletei think you look lovely. i love the spring colors...i have been feeling the same way lately...any way to bring some sunshine into our lives!!
ReplyDeleteHope you aren't under a mountain of snow right now.
DeleteLike a breath of spring, you look fabulous. I adore those oxfords.
ReplyDeleteAh, thank you Debbi.
DeleteI'm not seeing hobbit here. I'm seeing fantastic fresh spring in that robin's egg blue and your smile. The trees in the park are almost big enough to be hobbit homes... I'd wear that vest a lot too!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of that....that tree I'm standing in front of would make the most perfect round hobbit entrance doors.
DeleteYou look great in that beautiful furry coat, all glam and all toasty warm! I love the touches of duck egg blue, especially those tights. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI'm kind of new to wearing tights with such colour. I really love them.
DeleteOh my gosh...love this...such fresh colors and I love the wrist bling. You work it girlfriend! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting Mary. I appreciate your comments. I enjoy making jewelry, I find it calming.
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is wonderful! Are you in California? It looks so familiar to me (I'm a Californian and living in the Bay Area).
